Purusa Groove Project

Not your average Kirtan! Purusa Groove Project gets its name from the yogic word, "purusa", meaning that cosmic, divine energy that runs through every living thing, including the universe and beyond. We use that name to highlight the spirit of us all that we share. One way to ignite that "flame" is through music, mantra, community and Kirtan, a "yoga concert". PGP consists of 4 members, Lisa, Jon, Nelson and Louise, who fuse traditional vedic and non vedic mantras in Sanskrit with funk, rock, world beats and harmonies to create a dynamic, elevating sound that will rock you and your "chit".

Bhakti: The Singing Yoga

Bhakti is known as "the singing yoga".  The Sanskrit word bhakti comes from the root bhaj, which means "to adore or worship God." Bhakti yoga has been called "love for love's sake" and "union through love and devotion." Bhakti yoga, like any other form of yoga, is a path to self-realization, to having an experience of oneness with everything. It is explored in the  Bhagavad Gita, and is practiced through chanting and singing mantra, vedic songs with extremely high spiritual vibration. We can lose ourselves in song, music and chant, and find our inner spirit! Groovy Lotus Yoga practices Bhakti in two ways: The Bhakti Show and Flow Singing and Yoga weekly class, and monthly Kirtans with Purusa Groove Project

Bhakti Show and Flow

Every Wednesday at 1pm, join Lisa and Awaken Yoga for a FREE Bhakti Class. It is a 60 minute class. The first 20 minutes is set aside for singing/chanting a specific mantra. Participants learn all about the mantra and practice singing/chanting, and pranayama (directed breathing). The last 40 minutes is dedicated to an all levels gentle yoga flow that incorporates the mantra in thought, sound and movement. It is an extremely rewarding class, especially if you feel you are a musical soul...

Kirtan

Twice monthly, Purusa Groove Project performs Kirtan. Currently we are live streaming our Kirtan, but also hold on site concerts at Awaken Yoga and Meditation of Greenlawn, NY. Click below to view the current "live stream Kirtan Schedule"
